Not all bands like performing in marquees. Advance preparation is required. Marquees need to be set up correctly, with a dry solid floor performance area. The power supply need to be taken from a reliable, constant source, and the power cable can’t be laid on a damp surface or create a trip hazard. Also, the bands’ sound system needs to be set up correctly for marquees.
You’d be surprised how many bands don’t want to perform in marquees for the above reasons. But with a little planning and organisation, there shouldn’t be any problems.
Naturally, during the summer months, Hard to Handle band perform at many wedding receptions and functions in marquees. We always talk to clients in advance to ensure that all considerations are taken care of in advance.
So when we arrived at Sarah and Joels’ wedding reception in Southampton, both bride and groom and band knew that we were happy and ready to put on a great show – which we duly did!
We performed a “partial set up”, which meant that we were able to play DJ-style music within 10 minutes of having access to the marquee. It was great to see people on the dance floor straight away, even given the allure of the food and drink available.
When it came time to perform, the first dance, “Fall at your feet” by Crowded House, sounded great, and once the party mood was created, it stayed until the end of the night.
Sarah and Joel loved our performance! Sarah told us, “thank you so much for the wonderful job you did at our wedding last Friday! Although the whole evening seemed to fly by and is a bit of a blur I know you kept the dance floor full from the moment you sang our first dance song! We had a truly fabulous time and many guests have commented on how great the evening atmosphere was.”
