We like to think that we put on the best performance we can at every booking we play, regardless of whether it’s a small birthday party, a wedding reception or a business function. We certainly enjoy ourselves and it’s clear from the number of people on the dance floor and feedback we receive that people really enjoy our performances too.
Notwithstanding, we recently performed at the best wedding reception ever. Appreciated, that’s quite a claim, but a week afterwards, we’re still on a high from the energy coming from the guests. Ardencote manor in Warwick is a great place to play; the acoustics in both of the main performance rooms lend themselves to live bands and we have had many a great night at wedding receptions and other events there.
When Gareth and Liz hired us to perform at their wedding reception, we could tell from conversations prior to the night that bride, groom and guests were looking forward to having a party. What we didn’t know was HOW MUCH they were looking forward to it! 130 people isn’t the largest number of guests, but when all of the 130 guests in attendance are on the dance floor (and some on the stage) dancing like lunatics, wearing feather boas, comedy glasses and hats, it feels like you’re in the middle of the best party ever!
Every song we played was greeted cheers, from The Beatles (I saw her standing there) and Bryan Adams (Summer of ’69) through to The Kings of Leon (Sex on fire) and Walk the moon (Shut up and dance), and it seemed that everyone present knew all the lyrics, too.
The bride sported a huge smile throughout and the groom shook our hands energetically, saying “Brilliant! You’re brilliant!” None of us wanted the evening to end and we returned home exhausted but happy with lots of positive memories.
…which is why this was the best wedding ever.
