Are you one of those people who have 500 or more Facebook friends? If so, seriously? We always wonder – do you really know all of those people, or are you caught in a social media popularity contest, desperately trying to prove how much you’re the life and soul of the party to your other friends, who probably know that just like most other people, you only have around 38 good friends.

Alex isn’t one of those people. Alex is a down to earth, fun yet realistic guy, who invited 38 of his best friends to celebrate his 50th birthday party. He hired his favourite club in Stafford, put on a hog roast, free bar and told his friends they didn’t need to get dressed up but to come in the mood for a great party. Why? Because Alex hired Hard to Handle band.

Having done some research, he decided he needed to hire a band that would fit nicely into the main room of this compact venue – not an eight piece band that would take hours to set up and sound check. Not a band that would be way too loud and scare his friends away. Not a cheesy function band fronted by an X-Factor wannabe backed by some anonymous musicians with zero charisma.

Luckily for Alex, he found Hard to Handle band. We ticked all his boxes. Broad repertoire of music from the 1960s to the modern charts? Check. Instantly recognisable music? Check. Strong vocals and superb musicianship? Check. Two hours of live music AND additional DJ music with sound system and lights? Check. And most importantly, they must NOT sound like a pub rock band. DOUBLE CHECK!

All systems go. We arrived in plenty of time, set up our equipment, performed a brief soundcheck and then we were ready. We powered through two sets of music including Amy Winehouse, Kings of Leon, The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Stevie Wonder, The Fratellis, Maroon 5, The Beatles, Pharrell Williams, Van Morrison, Kaiser Chiefs, and even threw in a last minute request that we’d only played once before about four years ago!

Alex told us that he’d initially been concerned that such a small party wouldn’t benefit from a live band and that his friends would be too reserved to get up and dance. He needn’t have worried. As professional musicians we have both the experience and talent to ensure that any party – no matter how small – is rocking. Alexs’ guests loved our music and danced the night away.

Alex told us, “you guys were great, thank you so much! I’ve had a great birthday and all the music you played was spot on. You really got people moving and kept the party going all night. I’m really glad I booked you.” So if you are planning a party, wedding reception or business event, small or large, the choice is clear. Talk to Hard to Handle band direct on 0796 433 5657.
