If you're planning your 2009 wedding reception, you may think that you have plenty of time to make all necessary arrangements to ensure that your special days goes without a hitch. Plenty of time to organise the venue, catering, flowers, favours...maybe booking live entertainment isn't top of your list. But consider this:

•  the best bands are incredibly busy, performing at a variety of gigs, from private parties to corporate events, not to mention weddings.

For the first installment in a series of useful tips and traps to avoid when organising your function, we thought we would introduce you to a little device that you should be aware of. Ladies and gentlemen, we present the sound limiter:

 

 

This harmless looking little box is a feature of many modern fuunction centres. It sits on the wall of the function room and is designed to limit the volume of sound produced by a band or DJ. If the level of sound is exceeded, the electrical power supply is cut.

Imagine the effect this could have on your function - once tripped, the power takes a couple of minutes to be reset, the band or DJ take another couple of minutes to reset their equipment, and your special night descends into chaos as the music starts and stops continually.

So when you're looking for live entertainment, be sure to to ask whether the band have experience playing with sound limiters - it could make the difference between a great night and a great disappointment!
